If you wish to use our ImpactHD website, we may collect information necessary to create and administer your account, which may include your name and e-mail address, along with any other information you provide to us in connection with your use of the ImpactHD website (including your medical information, fitness levels and favorite social activities).
If you choose not to provide certain personal information we may not be able to provide you with the product or service you have requested.
Collection of anonymous information from our website
When you visit our website, https://impacthd.org.au (the “Website“), our server may attach a small data file called a “cookie” to your computer’s memory. A cookie does not identify you personally but it does identify your computer.
You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie and this will provide you with an opportunity to either accept or reject it in each instance. If you reject a cookie, some of the parts or features of our Website may not function properly.
We utilise session cookies to keep track of time spent in our online shop and the online donations pages of our Website. This helps protect your information from unauthorised access by terminating sessions that remain inactive for a certain period.
We use Google Analytics to help monitor the traffic patterns of our Website and to analyse how visitors use the Website. 6. Access and Correction
You have the right of access to personal information we hold about you. If you wish to obtain access to this information, please contact us using the details provided above.
In the event that such a request is made, we will review our records to determine what personal information we hold relating to you and endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible, but in any event, within 21 days. We endeavour to ensure the person seeking access is indeed the person the information is about and, in this regard, we may request that identification is provided before the personal information is released.
Once we have notified you of the nature of the personal information relating to you which we hold, we will organise a time for you to view that information. However, in accordance with the Privacy Act, we may withhold some of the personal information which we hold where we consider that:
- in the case of personal information, providing access would pose a serious and imminent threat to the life or health of any individual;
- providing access would have an unreasonable impact upon the privacy of other individuals;
- the request for access is frivolous or vexatious;
- the information relates to existing or anticipated legal proceedings between us and you, and the information would not be accessible by the process of discovery in those proceedings;

- providing access would be unlawful or the denying of access is required or authorised by or under law;
- providing access would be likely to prejudice an investigation of possible unlawful activity;

ImpactHD is not likely to disclose personal information to overseas recipients.
10. Sensitive Information
We may ask you for health information in order to provide services to you.
This may include information concerning whether you are at risk or have been diagnosed with Huntington’s disease, and information relating to your symptoms, health needs and fitness levels.
We will not collect health information about you without your consent, unless:
- we are required by law to collect the information;
- you are incapable of giving or communicating consent in the case of a medical emergency;
- we need to collect health information to provide you with a health service, and have complied with relevant laws or professional codes of conduct;

- for the purposes of research, or the compilation of statistics, relevant to public health; or
- to a person who is responsible for you if you are unable to give or communicate consent.
11. Policy may be Amended
Any changes will not apply retrospectively. Accordingly, if at any point we decide to use your personal information in a manner different from that stated when it was collected, we will notify you and you will have a choice as to whether we may use this information in the different manner.
